One large rock is surrounded by a number of smaller rocks to form a pile in the middle of a grassy lawn in this 5-1/2" x 3-1/4" black and white photograph. Behind the Rock Pile are trees and a glimpse of South Hall. "The Rockpile, Smith" is handwritten on the photograph.

Historical Notes
The Rock Pile was started as a class gift in 1898. Over the years, subsequent classes added to it, and it still exists today. South Hall was built in 1890-91 and was slated for demolition in 1953 when it burned down.
