Lake School was located at 19th and Lake Streets. The building pictured was erected in 1888 to replace the original two-room structure built in 1879. This building survived the 1913 Easter Sunday Tornado with considerable damage, but was eventually repaired and served as a neighborhood school until 1975. It was the first school in Nebraska to fly the American Flag in 1889. The school was closed in 1975, and the 16-room brick building was razed. |
