Vinton School, 20th Street and Deer Park Boulevard
Description
Four small one-story buildings with gabled roofs stand clustered together in this 6 1/2" x 4 1/4" black and white photograph. One of the buildings is made of brick, and the other three have wooden siding. All of the buildings have windows on the sides and chimneys protruding from their roofs. The land that the buildings stand on is higher than the level of the dirt road that runs in front of it, and a set of stairs lead from ground level to the yard in front of the buildings. A fence runs out from either side of the staircase. Several trees stand on the property.

Historical Notes
These four buildings made up Vinton School, located at 20th Street and Deer Park Boulevard in Omaha, Nebraska. The two room brick building was the original Vinton School (School District #3), built sometime before 1887. The other three two-room frame buildings were added in the period from 1887 to 1907. In 1887, the city of Omaha annexed the area, making District 3 part of the Omaha Public School District. The four buildings were used by students in the area until 1908, when they were replaced by a two-story brick building erected just to the west of the original site. The new building at 2120 Deer Park Boulevard was used until 1987.
