Color postcard (14 x 9 cm.) with a view of the St. Joseph altar in the chapel of St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. The altar includes a statue of St. Joseph and is surrounded by several candlesticks.
The St. Joseph's Hospital was located at 10th & Castelar Streets in Omaha, Nebraska. The chapel was built in the years 1895-1900 and was intensively enlarged in the years 1908-1910. The statue of St. Joseph, seen here, was balanced on the other side of the main altar by a statue of Mary. Both statues date from the 1908-1910 period of expansion and were erected in honor of John A. and Catherine Lonigan McShane, two benefactors of the chapel. Source: Bath, Francis J.
