First Baptist is the parent church of most Baptist churches in Omaha. In 1886, Beth-Eden and First Baptist purchased two lots on Park Avenue. A wood-frame building was erected on the site in March of 1888. The present edifice shown, located at 421 Park Avenue, was begun January 14, 1904, and finished in October 1904. The original dimensions were 70 by 112 feet. The pipe organ was a gift of Mrs. T.L. Sunderland. Source: Wakeley, Arthur, Omaha: The Gate City and Douglas County Nebraska, Chicago, S.J.
