This black and white lantern slides shows work being done during a project to re-grade some of Omaha's streets. A man is leading two horses pulling grading equipment across an unlevel dirt street. A wall of dirt, indicating the street's former level, can be seen in the background.
In the late 1800s and early 1900s, several street re-grading projects took place in Omaha. In certain areas, the street level was lowered. Dirt from these areas was used to raise the grade in other sections of the city.
