Black and white publicity photograph of a scene from the season-opening musical from 1964-65, "Damn Yankees" written by Richard Adler. This shot was taken in the fall of 1964 at the Omaha Community Playhouse. Four male actors (names unknown) are shown in Washington Senators' baseball uniforms, complete with dark warm-up jackets with a bold W on the front, with their hands over their hearts while they are singing a song.
This performance broke the old 9,200-plus attendance record at the Omaha Community Playhouse. The Omaha World-Herald called it "The finest damn musical ever." Allen Cook, a technician, got his start with this play. Jean Stone, a choreographer and grandmother, did cartwheels across the stage at the end of the song, "You Gotta Have Heart."
