This exterior view of the Dwight A. and Mary E. Lumbard residence at 310 East Fifteenth Street in Fremont, Nebraska, is most interesting not for the view of the home, which is essentially hidden in dense summer foliage, but for its excellent tennis court. The home itself appears to be a large, two story frame structure with additions. The windows are fitted with louvered, wooded storm shutters. The dwelling is nestled in well established shade trees and it is neatly painted with at least two colors. Two young boys are standing near the wooden yard bench holding tennis rackets in their hands. A young woman is seated under the wooden frame work which is probably used to suspend a swing or hammock. A fourth figure is standing just inside the shed doorway. These individuals can most likely be identified as Nina E. Lumbard and her brothers. The tennis net is stretched across the court, which has been meticulously laid out with chalk or lime sprinkled on the short, mowed grass.
