A little boy in a dark long-sleeve sailor suit with knee-length pants, tunic top with low-slung leather belt, black tights and high-top shoes is standing on the table behind her, looking over her shoulder. Another little boy is wearing a matching sailor suit, leaning on her leg, looking at the book.

Historical Notes
Bessie Harper Clark was born in Butler County, Nebraska, the daughter of John & Emily Willes Harper in September, 1878. She married James Roy Clark, July 3, 1889. She is pictured with her two sons, Roy and John D. Clark. Both boys were born in Nebraska; Roy was born circa 1906 and John was born circa 1908. The family moved to Windsor, Colorado, where James and the two boys worked at a sugar factory.
