Historical Notes
In 1882, Mrs. Curtis Stoddard came to Butler County from Steuben County, Indiana, with her two sons, Jay and Frank Stoddard. They purchased land near Rising City and Frank returned to Indiana, bringing back his new wife, Bella. Frank and Bella had a daughter, Amy. Frank died in 1904 and is buried near Rising City. In 1906, Bella and Amy returned to Indiana to be near Bella's family.
