Historical Notes
Hazel Betzer was born in David City, Nebraska, February, 1885, to Alex & Lucretia Betzer. Her father was the editor of the local newspaper while Hazel attended school in David City. Hazel and her parents moved to Omaha, Nebraska, some time before the 1910 census where Hazel and her father both worked in the newspaper business. She married Dow Smith and died March 15, 1974, in Miller, South Dakota.
