Historical Notes
A. V. Thomas came to David City with his parents in 1884, when he was three years of age. He was an amateur photographer in his youth. In 1904, in an attempt to earn money to pay for his college tuition, he took photographs of most of the homes and businesses in David City. The photographs were labeled, placed in small albums and sold; at least six of the albums exist in private collections at this time. He obtained his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1905. He practiced law in Michigan for a short time but returned to David City in the fall of 1905, and opened a law office shortly thereafter. In 1906 he was elected County Attorney of Butler County and re-elected six times. After he retired from practice he moved to Phoenix, Arizona.
