Historical Notes
George W. Rogers was born in Illinois, June 19, 1847. He married Mary Shelton in Illinois, January 21, 1870, and they moved to Butler County, Nebraska, in 1878. In 1882 the family moved to South Dakota for 15 years, then moved back to the Rising City area with their four children. George died January 29, 1917, and is buried in Circle Mound Cemetery near Rising City, Nebraska. Mary Shelton Rogers was born in England, March 15, 1849, to Robert and Mary Jackson Shelton. She immigrated from Liverpool aboard the Phelina, arriving in New York on June 8, 1850. She died in 1933 and is buried at Circle Mound Cemetery near Rising City.
