Historical Notes |
John Dale Nichols was born February 22, 1867, Mt. Ayr, Iowa. He came to Butler County in 1888, at the age of 21, to farm with his brother Harve. He married Edith Pollman June 10, 1893, at the Butler County Courthouse. Edith was born November 22, 1874, on the Pollman homestead five miles west of David City. John and Edith farmed west of David City for over 40 years before retiring to David City. They raised four sons and one daughter. Edith died July 1, 1958, and John D. Nichols died December 3, 1959. Both are buried in the David City Cemetery. |
