Historical Notes
Sister Jean Myklebust graduated from the Immanuel Deaconess Institute School of Nursing in 1953. She received her B.S. degree in nursing from the University of Omaha in 1955. She was commissioned by the Lutheran Board of World Missions in 1956 to serve as nursing instructor at a Lutheran Hospital in Kiomboi, Tanzania. She returned to Omaha in 1960 where she served as Assistant Director of Nursing Service at Immanuel Hospital and then as Director of Nursing Service from 1965-1967. She served District II as 2nd Vice President for the years 1964 and 1965. She also was a member of the Legislative Committee in 1966. She returned to the African mission field in July of 1967 where she served until her death in 1969.
