Identified by a note on the back, this black and white photograph shows a classroom for student nurses, in the 3rd hospital of the Immanuel Deaconess Institute. The room has painted walls and wood floors. There is a door with a doormat on the floor in the right center of the image, which is opposite two curtained windows. There is a radiator under the nearest window. The walls of the room are light in color above and darker below with a chair rail separating the colors. A blackboard appears across the front wall. The left portion of the blackboard is covered by a roll down chart illustrating the front and back views of a human figure's musculature. An instructor's desk and chair on a low riser appear in the front center of the room. On the right side of the room a human skeleton is suspended from a freestanding armature. A globed electric light hangs between the instructor's desk and the first row of student desks. Three rows of six student chairs with writing desks attached fill the foreground.
