Historical Notes
This class picture was taken outside one of the original buildings that constituted Vinton School from 1887 to 1907, located at 20th Street and Deer Park Boulevard in Omaha, Nebraska. During this period of time, many students completed their formal education with eighth grade. Many of the students who attended Vinton School at this time were immigrants or children of immigrants. Almost one quarter of Omaha's population was made of recent immigrants from 1900 to 1910. This percentage was significantly higher than the rest of the area or the national average. In 1900, most of the immigrants were from European countries.
