Color postcard (13 1/2 x 8 1/2 cm) with a view of the eight story new Omaha Grain Exchange Building at the southwest corner of 19th & Harney, 1905 Harney, Omaha, Nebraska. The image is not of the structure as it was actually built, but is an artist's drawing showing the north face of a proposed view. Automobiles are shown parked beside the building.
The nucleus of the Omaha Grain Exchange was born on September 9, 1903. A group of local businessmen decided that, since 400 million bushels of grain passed through Omaha, it would make a great place to sell it. The New Grain Exchange building was constructed in 1916 at the southwest corner of 19th & Harney Streets for a total cost of $1 million.
