Color postcard (14 x 9 cm.) with a night time exterior view of the Empress Theatre at 1516 Douglas Street in Omaha, Nebraska. The marquee reads: "Any Seat 10 Cent Any Time - [unreadable] Performance - [unreadable] vaudeville and photo plays - EXAMINATION DAYS - 9-PEOPLE-9". There is an American flag flying from the roof, and a couple early model cars are parked in front with pedestrians visible.
The Empress, located at 1514-18 Douglas Street, was the destination of many theater enthusiasts. It boasted such innovations as elevators to its two balconies, and a restaurant that became a popular dance spot called the Rustic Gardens. It was razed in 1929.
