Black and white postcard (12.5 x 9 cm.) with a view of a streetcar in South Omaha, Nebraska. The streetcar has the number 277 on the front, and it has an advertising sign attached to the front bumper for an event at Dietz Park, 30th & Spaulding. There are two uniformed men standing by the door to the car.
Almost from the beginning of Omaha, this mode of mass transportation played a role. The first streetcars were horse-drawn carriages on rails. February 18, 1867 saw the first horse-drawn cars in Omaha. Gradually, they changed to the cable car variety. The last "Official Trip" of Omaha's streetcars was March 5, 1955. Source: Orr, Richard.
