This 7.5 "x 9.5" photograph shows the master bedroom at The Elms, the home of Ray and Anna Nye, located at 1643 North Nye Avenue in Fremont, Nebraska. The poorly and hastily made beds indicate the Nyes are absent prior to the sale of their home. The enameled white interior trim consists of fluted casings topped with bull eye patterned corner blocks, crown moldings with picture moldings, and paneled doors. A wall cupboard has doors with beveled glass mirrors. The walls are softened by paper with an overall floral motif and a molded plaster festoon trims the ceiling perimeter. An oriental type area rug with fringe covers the wood floor. Furnishings are dark mahogany wood and include matching twin beds with lathed corner posts, a refined and simple dressing table with oval mirror, and Morris inspired arm chair. A small bedside table matches the bed and a side chair is also visible. Art work consists of a Neo-classical style framed print hanging above the beds and a Charles Dana Gibson inspired portrait in a contoured brass frame. Sea shells and a vase are displayed on a shelf above the dressing room door. A chintz curtain hangs at the doorway from a brass curtain rod and drapery rings. It is pulled back to afford a glimpse of a porcelain lavatory, a wall mounted soap dish and an oval framed mirror. Artificial lighting is provided by gas and electric fixtures.
