A three-story building with a terra cotta stands between two other buildings in this 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" black and white photograph. The first floor has large windows with an awning over them; signs on the awning read "Donley-Stahl Co." and "Hair Cutting Shop". The two upper stories have smaller windows with decorative stonework around them. A sidewalk runs in front of the buildings, and there are cars parked on the street. "Donley-Stahl Co." is written on the photograph.
This handsome terra cotta facade stood at 1233 N Street, between the Lincoln Theatre to the right and the red brick of the nineteenth century Freie Presse Publishing Co. Building to the left. Built in 1925 by Olson Construction Company, the office building and store was designed by Lincoln architects Fiske, Meginnis, and Schaumberg. Pharmacist Claude E. Donley and Charles C. Stahl operated the Donley-Stahl Co. from the building, providing "Physicians Supplies' Wholesale and Retail." The facade was remodeled by Tier One Bank in 2007 and only a few hints of the original, elegant terra cotta remain visible.
