This 6-1/2" x 4-1/2" black and white photograph shows a three-story brick building. There are signs for Norden Laboratories and Iten Buscuit Co. on the first story and a sign for Ridnour Manufacturing Co. on the second story. The building has windows on all three floors, including two large windows on the first floor with awnings over them. The date 1888 appears in stone near the top of the third story. A sidewalk runs along the street in front of the building, and several automobiles are parked in the street. Other brick structures surround the building. "Ridnour Mfg. Co." is written on the photograph.
Burr and Muir Block located at 227 N. 9th Street, was designed by architect James Tyler. The Burr and Muir Block is one of the very few intact examples of substantial commercial buildings that lined 9th Street before the turn of the century. D. D. Muir and his partner Carlos C. Burr, a Lincoln real estate dealer, attorney, and one-time mayor, constructed the block in 1888. Occupants in the 1920s included Ridnour Manufacturing, Norden Laboratories, and Iten Biscuit Co.
