This snowplow is believed to be a "Jull Centrifugal Snow Excavator" designed and patented by Orange Jull of Canada, of which only a small number were manufactured. Run by steam engines, the screw-like shovel pulls in the snow and then rotates it out a trapdoor in the roof and off to the side. Jull had previously patented a "snowblower" which improved on one designed by J. W. Elliot but lost the patent to his manufacturing partners, the Leslie Brothers.
