A 4"x5" acetate negative, photograph of the interior of the McIntosh Jewelry Store, downtown David City, Nebraska, Louise Groosman, Patricia Emerson, Robert Kunert, Vincent Stead and Edward McIntosh. Vincent Stead wearing wire-rimmed glasses, white shirt, knotted tie and vest, is behind the counter assisting Louise Goosman and Patricia Emerson, wearing knee-length skirts, long-sleeve tops and flat shoes, who are looking at rings. Edward McIntosh, wearing wire-rimmed glasses, shirt, knotted tie and vest is assisting Robert Kunert, who is looking at watches. Florescent light fixtures hang from the ceiling, wood and glass shelving and display cases filled with vases, clocks, and jewelry line the walls, glass and wood display cases on the floor are filled with jewelry boxes featuring rosaries, watches and jewelry. |

Historical Notes |
Edward Henley McIntosh was born in Wisconsin, April 21, 1891. He was apprenticed to a jeweler and watch-maker while in high school and he also attended a watch-makers school. He came to David City by train in 1915 and began working for the Albright Jewelry Store. In 1916, he began working for the Buchta Jewelry Store, which he purchased in 1925. He married Beatrice Hale in 1919, and they raised three children. The jewelry store was sold in 1950s. Edward McIntosh died in June, 1955. |
