Historical Notes
Henry Klosterman was born March 26, 1904. He emigrated from Germany to the U.S. in June, 1925, at the urging of his uncle John Klosterman, who had no male offspring and was well established in farming and banking in David City. His uncle offered to establish credit for him if he would come to Nebraska. Times were hard in Germany, and, in order to escape the military and political turmoil, Henry gladly accepted the offer. He enrolled at the University of Nebraska in order to learn English. In 1927, he began farming in Ulysses Township, Butler County. In 1932, he married Oda Vermillion. They raised four children: John C., Ann, Catharine and Jane. He was a prominent farmer and cattle feeder, and served on the Board at the First National Bank from 1934-1981. He also bred and showed Tennessee Walking horses and won many awards for his efforts. Henry died April 30, 1983.
