Historical Notes
Dorothy Van Dyke was born in Octavia, Nebraska, July 4, 1904, the daughter of Lambert and Jenny Ball Van Dyke. According to 1910 census records, the family was living in Adair, Iowa, where her father was a farmer. Dorothy married Harold Spencer, June 29, 1930, in Lincoln, Nebraska. They had two children. Dorothy died in Crete, Nebraska, in March 1987.
