Historical Notes
Harold and Ida Hilger were the two oldest children of Victor and Mary Reisdorff Hilger. Ida was born in David City, Nebraska, November 21,1905 and Harold was born in David City, November 23,1907. Ida attended David City High School, graduating in 1923. She attended Beauty College and Van Sant Business College. She taught in a rural school and then was employed as a secretary in Omaha for 25 years. She returned to David City in 1963 and worked at several local businesses and the David City Hospital. Ida never married and had no children. She died January 24, 1977, and is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, David City. Harold married Francis Novacek, September 4, 1928, in Brainard, Nebraska. They farmed and raised three children: Jane, Diane and Robert. Following his wife's death in 1966, Harold married Esther Levin, September 10, 1968, in Kingsley, Iowa. Harold died in Correctionville, Iowa, August 7, 1993.
