Black and white photograph taken from above the street showing horses, wagons and automobiles on a dirt street. Concrete sidewalks are in front of the businesses and across the street. A bandstand is in the intersection of 4th and Main and crowds of people are in front of the "Corner Drug", Wolfe's, and the Atlas Bank. On the east side we see Wolfe's, a barber pole, a street sign advertising a cafe, a mortar and pestle indicating a druggist and a grocery store. Power poles extend the length of the street and a large transformer hangs from a pole in front of Wolfe's. People appear to be mostly in everyday clothing.
Original format: Glass plate negative, 4.25 x 6.5 inches.
Historical Note
Frank Bauman labeled and dated his negative envelopes. His pictures give us a benchmark. Many changes have occurred since the earlier pictures of Main street. The power distribution system has been improved. The "Corner Drug" has been built.
