The seven-story red granite structure had carved beehives as exterior ornaments and carved miniature beehives on the doorknobs. Construction cost $440,000. The paper billed itself as the world's largest newspaper plant. Newspaper circulation in 1889 was 18,736. The Omaha City Hall was constructed at 18th & Farnam Streets in 1890. Both buildings were torn down in 1966 to build the Woodmen Tower. Source: Omaha Public Library Omaha History Clipping File- Newspapers.
