Historical Notes
The David City Public Library was established in 1891 and was originally located in two rooms of the basement of the courthouse. In 1917, the Carnegie Foundation provided funds for construction of the brick library building in this photo, located 1/2 block west of the corner of 4th and E Streets. This building was used from 1919 until 1996, when it was replaced with the new Hruska Memorial Library, located on the corner of 5th & D Streets.
