The children are seated on small stools next to a wicker table playing with an assortment of toys, in front of a painted backdrop that features an open casement window and a flower-filled urn.

Historical Notes
Marion and Merle Patterson were the sons of Henry and Lula Patterson. Marion was born in June 1898 and Merle was born in July 22, 1899. Marion died in 1909 and Merle died in September 1971. Both are buried in the David City Cemetery.
