Description	The black-and-white photograph on this 5-1/2" x 3-1/2" postcard features a three-story Italianate limestone and brick building at the corner of Hastings Avenue and Third Street. The flag pole on the roof above the front door does not have a flag on it. The wooden, one-story building to the right is Henry Kister's blacksmith shop. The brick three-story building behind the government building has porches running along the side of the upper two floors. On the reverse is a green, one-cent Benjamin Franklin postage stamp.

Historical Notes	The Hastings Post Office, also known as the Federal Building, was constructed in 1905 at a cost of $125,000. The 100 foot by 60 foot building housed a post office on the first floor while the second and third floors had offices for a federal judge, a U.S. marshal and the IRS and a U.S. district court courtroom. The post office moved out in 1963, and the building was torn down in 1971.
